Set Your Sankalpa: A New Year Retreat
at Joyful Journey Hot Springs San Luis Valley, Colorado
with Lisa Theis, E-RYT500
January 11-14, 2024
The beginning of a new year is a natural time for setting intentions (sankalpas) & putting new patterns into place. It is a valuable time to pause in reflection of the past, and a powerful time to dream of what you’d like to bring to fruition in the coming year. It is a time when the days grow longer and longer & there is a great, yet gradual, awakening from the depths of winter- a precious, quiet time just before the seeds begin to stir.
While a new year can hold much potential, we know that what comes from a year is built in the day-to-day moments. In order to bring a dream into reality though, we first have make space by letting go. This is the most challenging part. Our lives are shaped by our past experiences and it can be difficult to let go of old stories & patterns that bring comfort, even if this release is what we most desire.
As we build the courage to let go of the past & step into unknown territory, we simultaneously call forth what it is we want to step into. The clearer we are about what we want, the more readily it will come forth. We have to build energy & stamina behind it, for you are forging a new path. It’s one thing to set an intention, or create a resolution, and a whole other thing to see it made manifest in our lives.
So! As we enter this new year, a new beginning, with the first new moon of the year, let us create all we need for new things to come forth. The healing waters of Joyful Journey are a perfect conduit for this. There are so many amazing benefits to these mineral rich waters of the San Luis Valley, and what better paring to them than the practice of yoga. Join me for an unforgettable journey to this deeply healing place. Be prepared to release all that no longer serves you and open to all that is ready to come into being by your endlessly creative Soul.
This Journey includes:
~ 3 nights stay in the lodge or a yurt (see Accommodations & Cost section for more info)
~ Unlimited soaking in numerous healing pools – click here to learn more about the pools.
~ 3 delicious & nutritious meals a day – made-to-order breakfasts, catered lunches & community dinners. Vegetarian & vegan options included. Upon registration you will be sent choices for your meals.
~ All yoga practices, meditations, & guided sessions curated & taught by Lisa. See About page for more on her.
~ New Moon Fire ceremony – there’s a Lakota woman who regularly hosts new moon ceremonies at Joyful Journey and the first day of our retreat is the first new moon of the year – how fortuitous! We will be able to attend her ceremony.
*Massages & spa treatments are also available, but for an additional cost.
About Joyful Journey:
Naturally super-heated by the earth’s active geothermal and hydrothermal activity, Joyful Journey is one of the few places on earth with natural hot mineral water that does not have the sulfur odor that is often found in many hot mineral springs. Our mineral waters are piped directly from private artesian springs at Joyful Journey.
The pools are tempered between 98°F to 108°F. For centuries, the Native Americans, the Spanish explorers and early settlers took refuge at what is now Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa. Whether for therapy or a respite from a harsh winter climate, these early visitors placed great value on the unique healing qualities of this water. The Native Americans referred to these elements simply as “The Waters” and established its source as a place of peace, where all tribes were welcome, leaving all differences behind as they came to this sanctuary to heal.
Joyful Journey is a place of rest and healing. While kids and dogs are welcome, it is crucial to the peaceful, spa environment that children and pets are carefully supervised, for their own safety and in consideration of all our guests. If you are looking for a more child-friendly setting, we can help direct you to other resorts in the area.
